With the warmer weather promising spring is on its way, site work continues at the future home of Fieldstone of DeWitt. The community will replace the existing Westwing Place, also of DeWitt, in positively impacting the quality of life of older adults in Clinton county and surrounding areas.
The community -- the second to be built by WellSpire, a partnership of WesleyLife and Genesis Health System -- will offer Assisted Living, Memory Support, Short-Term Rehabilitation, and Long-Term Care for older adults when it opens in 2022.
Fieldstone is the first WellSpire community to leverage financing from the USDA Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program, which provides affordable funding to develop essential communities in rural areas. USDA loans allow organizations to serve individuals who could benefit from the services and care they provide, regardless of income source.
The campus will be located north of 11th Street off Maynard Way in DeWitt. A project of WellSpire, a joint venture of WesleyLife and Genesis Health System, the project has been supported by a successful capital campaign led by the DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation, which provided an initial gift of $1 million.
The foundation has successfully engaged the DeWitt community and surrounding area in the opportunity to champion the development. More than $4.2 million of the $5 million project goal has been raised to date.
The 95,000-square-foot building on a 14-acre campus will be developed on a foundation of health and well-being designed to enhance the lives of its residents, clients, and team members. The total cost of the project is estimated at $27 million. Graham Construction of Des Moines is the project’s general contractor, and Pope Architects of St. Paul, Minnesota, is its designer.
“We are humbled by the response of members of the DeWitt community on this critical project, and it is our hope that the new community will be a point of pride for the city and for Clinton County for generations,” Chad Vogel, Vice President of Philanthropy for WesleyLife, said.
"The leadership of Robin Krogman of the Hospital Foundation cannot be overstated. She has been key in integrating us with this thriving community and reinforcing everything Fieldstone will bring to a deserving population. We are grateful to be a part of this wonderful community and look forward to building relationships in the area for many years to come.”
