Amber Jipsen, a team member at Heritage House, a WesleyLife community for healthy living in Atlantic, Iowa, has been recognized as Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association (IHSADA) Administrative Assistant of the Year.
The award is presented each year to administrative assistants who are considered to have made a significant impact in their school’s activities programming. Amber was nominated by Atlantic High School activities director Andrew Mitchell.
Amber, pictured above, who also works part-time as a server in the assisted living dining room at Heritage House, says she is honored to have received the award.
“I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with outstanding coaches, activities directors and volunteers in Atlantic and throughout the Hawkeye Ten conference," Amber says. "Knowing that we provide students with opportunities and experiences they will carry with them beyond high school makes this work so meaningful."
Amber says she loves both her jobs.
“The residents at Heritage House follow local athletics, and it's always great to hear their stories and answer their questions about school events they’ve read about or attended,” she says.
"Additionally, several coaches and sponsors have brought student groups to Heritage House for activities, creating meaningful connections between students and residents.”
Sara Hooper, director of people and culture for Heritage House, says residents and team members are happy for Amber and grateful she shares her time with their community.
"Her dedication not only strengthens our culinary department but also brings us joy," she says. "Her ability to connect with team members and residents as well as community members and students in her administrative job makes a lasting impact on everyone she encounters.”
