WesleyLife One of Three Local Charities Awarded $10,000 from the Extreme Charity Golf Classic
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA – Nov. 9, 2015 – Hubbell Realty Company is pleased to announce that over $30,000 was raised during its annual Extreme Charity Golf Classic held in September. The funds will be split evenly among WesleyLife Meals on Wheels, Puppy Jake Foundation and The Homestead.
“Our Hubbell associates vote to determine which charities we raise money for during our annual golf event,” said Rick Tollakson, CEO and president of Hubbell Realty Company. “Each of these charities do great work for the metro area and we value their hard work.”
The Extreme Charity Golf Classic, held at Copper Creek Golf Club, welcomed 240 golfers and community supporters. The event offered the chance to not only golf and enjoy the 18-year-old golf course in Pleasant Hill, but more importantly, support and raise money for three local charities.
This year, the three charities will take home $10,000 each; valuable funds that support valuable community efforts. “We are very grateful for being designated as one of the three charities,” said Paula Maddox, WesleyLife director of Annual Gifts and Grants. “Because of this donation, we are able to guarantee home-delivered meals to four older adults in need for an entire year. This donation will make a huge impact by enriching the nutritional and emotional lives of these individuals.”
William Reed, vice president of Philanthropy for WesleyLife, added, “It’s not every day that you receive a call saying, ‘We’d like to include you in our fundraising efforts.’ We are grateful to receive this generous donation and sincerely thank Hubbell Realty Company and its associates for supporting our mission.”
Maddox detailed the impact of the donation to WesleyLife:
- Four low-income seniors will receive nutritious home-delivered meals for an entire year.
- That’s more than 1,500 opportunities for our drivers to provide a safety check and engage in social interaction each time they make a Meals on Wheels delivery to an older adult in need.
Hubbell and WesleyLife have had an ongoing relationship as Hubbell Construction Services recently completed a remodel of WesleyLife’s corporate office at 5508 NW 88th St. in Johnston. The $800,000 project was finished in just four months and included the installation of custom wood ceiling panels, quarried stone from southeast Iowa and an entirely LED light fixture package. Hubbell Construction Services completed the work in June 2015.
